Asian Vision to Debut at Heimtextil

By Carole Sloan -- Home Textiles Today, 12/18/2006

Frankfurt, Germany — Asian Vision will be introduced as the high quality exhibit of Asian textiles at Heimtextil here next month from Jan.10 to Jan.13.

Asian Vision is the counterpart to Dreamland, the premium high quality segment of Heimtex dedicated to European and North American products. The new section, showcased in Hall 6.1 and Hall 10.2, according to Detlef Braun,, a board member of Messe Frankfurt, will set the quality exhibitors apart from the exhibitors in Asian Feeling and Asian Selection. The move, Braun added, is “to take account of the increasing quality of textiles from the Far East.”

Products from producers in Thailand, South Korea, China, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan will be featured. Asian Vision exhibitors must submit their products to the Heimtex jury for evaluation, the same way as those showing in Dreamland.

The criteria for acceptance in both Dreamland and Asian Vision are material, quality, make-up, product, stand presentation, design, color concept, trend and innovation orientation and export orientation, explained Ulrike Wechsung, Heimtex director.

Asian Feeling, which features bed, bath, kitchen and table textiles and mattresses is in Hall 10.0, while fabrics, curtains, upholstery fabrics and sun protection systems are in Hall 6.3. Similar product ranges for Asian Selection are in Hall 10.1 and Hall 6.2.

Heimtextil also will showcase large scale commercial projects in two halls, another first for the event. A special segment using textiles in hotels will be featured in Showcase Hotels with presentations by Graft and Material Connexion, Cologne. The parallel presentation, Showcase Cruises, focuses on solutions for ships by Trevira and Peter Deilmann Reederei.

Another special contract presentation will be an innovative concept for hotel beds presented by the Marriott hotel group in Hall 8.0.

Besides the showcase exhibits for contract, exhibitors with contract textiles will have special logos for their stands.

Gunnar Frank of the Netherlands holds the spotlight with the annual Trend Presentation. His theme is “show us your true colors” and features four trend statements for 2007/2008: Constructive Power, Cubism Monochrome, Surreal Sunny and Futurism Dawn. The presentation is being staged by designers Bora-Herke and will be showcased in Forum O. Lectures by international designers will supplement the presentation.
