Belk going green with Homestead’s MaryJanesFarm

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 10/24/2006 12:17:00 PM

New York – Belk department stores will launch MaryJanesFarm Home, a new lifestyle brand by author and organic farmer MaryJane Butters, as an exclusive in more than 200 stores and on www.belk.com in February.

The line of bedding and decorative accessories is being developed and produced by Homestead. “The timing of her launch could not be more perfect as there is a continuous growing demand for eco-friendly products,” said David Greenstein, Homestead’s ceo.

Butters’ books and magazines offer tips on food, gardening and sewing, among other things. Her web site www.maryjanesfarm.org connects fans to “farm girl advice” as well as self-branded organic food, seeds, sewing kits and organic clothing.

The palette for MaryJanesFarm Home will feature sunshine-flavored yellows, rich greens, gentle blues and garden-inspired reds. In addition to fashion bedding, the collection will include organic sheets in rich earth tones packaged in reusable, recycled paper boxes.
