J.R. United to Debut Casa Cristina

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 6/5/2006

Miami — An extensive Casa Cristina collection of bedding, bath, bath accessories and bath rugs will be launched at the New York Home Textiles Market in August by J.R. United.

The licensed program, which will be geared to “specialty store distribution and up,” includes three solid color towel programs, four jacquard towel groups and eight embellished towel programs.

The solid color towels are designed to appeal to specific Hispanic groups in terms of design and qualities, said Salo Grosfeld, president. The opening price point is $6.99 with the $9.99 and $12.99 towels having matching rugs. The jacquard towels and four of the embellished towels have matching accessories, rugs and shower curtains. The embellished towels range from $12.99 to $19.99.

The six bedding designs include two as bed-in -a-bag programs — Acapulco and Mantilla — at $59.99 and $79.99 all sizes, depending on sheet count and decorative pillows.

The bedding reflects the color and fabric favorites of Cristina Saralegui, host of the Show de Cristina and a major Hispanic media star. The J.R. United licensed collection joins a growing roster of Casa Cristina home furnishings licensees including Pulaski Furniture, CBK for home accents, rugs from Jaunty, Lady Americana mattresses, and lighting from Minka Group. For fall 2006, kitchen textiles from Fallani & Cohn will be introduced.

The bed and bath collection will launch Sept. 15, which marks the start of Spanish Heritage Month.

Grosfeld expects to work closely with the other licensees in marketing and distribution. “We're becoming a tight group to enhance the marketing opportunity,” he said. As an example, he said, there is potential to distribute his product via the channels of both Pulaski with furniture and Lady Americana with mattresses.
