IHF Producing Neuberger Top of Bed

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/17/2006

Black Mountain, N.C. —Diversified bedding supplier International Home Fashions (IHF) is putting more marketing muscle behind its top of the bed line and has signed a license with designer Karen Neuberger to produce an assortment of comforters, duvets, bedspreads, shams, ruffles and decorative pillows.

The licensing pact was signed just days before the New York market, “and we've generated several placements on it during market week,” said Tedd Smith, national sales manager. To ramp up the line, IHF has hired Sidney K as a staff designer. “Sidney K has developed her own catalog, and she'll bring a lot of flair to the operation,” said Smith.

Cost prices for Karen Neuberger comforter sets will be $122 for the queen and $91 for the twin; bedspreads $40 twin. “She's going to be the 'best' as we take a good/better/best approach going forward,” he said.

Neuberger was propelled into the spotlight several years ago when she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show in pajamas she designed. Her work has previously been licensed by Hollander Home Fashions.

The IHF debut line includes Hope Chest, the pajama design she wore on Oprah.

Karen Neuberger is the first designer license for IHF, a three-year old company founded as a supplier of blankets by a team of industry veterans who head earlier worked for Pillowtex Corp. and the companies it acquired, including Beacon Mfg. and Fieldcrest Cannon. Moving beyond its core automatic blanket and throw assortment, more recently the company has diversified into top of the bed looks.
