Park B. Smith Launches All-New Eco-ordinates

By Carole Sloan -- Home Textiles Today, 3/31/2006

New York — Dramatically surpassing the original Eco-ordinates of the early 1990's, Park B. Smith Ltd. is launching a multi-product 21st century version with expanded colors, categories and coordination.

The original Eco-ordinates used natural dyes for the two major colors — hunter green and royal blue. The 2006 “eco-ordinates, Vegetable Dyes” offers a wide array of colors in current fashion shades and softer tones, said Park B. Smith, chairman.

The new collection includes nine new bedding coordinates with elements that can be mixed and matched, blankets (a first), shower curtains, Magic Blinds, a full range of window coverings from café curtains to panels, knit throws and decorative pillows, rugs and table linens.

The colors, Smith explained, will always match with no dye lot problems, and soften with age. “They're easy to live with colors, and are real and affordable.” The packaging will be highlighted with raffia cord ties. Duvets range from $49.99 to $99.99.

The new generation eco-ordinates, Smith related, have been developed with his original supplier in India of some 30-plus years duration, Alps Textile Industries. The first eco-ordinates launched in fall 1993 and had a run of about seven years.

To celebrate the new eco-ordinates launch, the company will hand out baseball caps during market with the logo “Keep it Simple,” referencing the earth-friendly elements of the collection.

Beyond the eco-ordinates line, the company has expanded its table linen offerings with a variety of new accessories.
