Federated Taps MacDonald for Marketing

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/6/2006

Cincinnati — Federated Department Stores has recruited Anne MacDonald as chief marketing officer and president of the Macy's corporate marketing division. She succeeds Peter Sachse, who moves into the newly created position of chairman and ceo of macys.com.

Both will report to Federated chairman, president and ceo Terry Lundgren. MacDonald will join Federated from Citibank, where she serves as chief marketing officer, global consumer group. Previously, she was vp brand management at the Pizza Hut division of PepsiCo. Her earlier executive roles included executive vp and managing director of Procter & Gamble business with the N.W. Ayer advertising agency.

“Anne MacDonald's mission will be to lead us outside of the traditional realm of retail store marketing and to establish Macy's as a leading American consumer brand,” Lundgren pointed out, noting that by fall 2006 Macy's will become a truly national brand with its store count doubling to about 800, as the conversion of former May locations reaches its height.

Kent Anderson, president of macys.com, will report to Sachse while oversight of macys.com will transition to Sachse from Michael Osborn, who recently was named president and chief operating officer of the Macy's Home Store division.
