By Michele SanFilippo -- Home Textiles Today, 1/2/2006

Cincinnati — On Feb. 1, a changing of the guard will occur at Federated Department Stores as eight top divisional execs shift roles with the company's national integration of the Macy's nameplate. New posts will report to Federated Vice Chair Susan Kronick.

The divisional executive changes include the following:

Daniel Edelman, chairman and CEO of Macy's Northwest in Seattle, will become president and chief operating officer of San Francisco-based Macy's West. Jeff Gennette, executive vice president and director of stores at Atlanta-based Macy's Central, will be named chairman and CEO of Macy's Northwest. Robert Harrison, chairman of Robinsons-May in Los Angeles, will be president and chief operating officer of Macy's Northwest. Frank Guzzetta, president and CEO of Marshall Field's, will become chairman and CEO of Minneapolis-based Macy's North. Robert Soroka, chairman of Marshall Field's, will become president and chief operating officer of Macy's North.

Andrew Pickman, president and CEO of Foley's in Houston, will become president and chief merchandising officer of Atlanta-based Macy's South. Michael Krauter, president and chief merchandising officer of Macy's Central in Atlanta, will become vice chairman and director of stores at Macy's South. John Harper, chairman of Hecht's/Strawbridge's, will become vice chairman and director of stores at Macy's Midwest in St. Louis.

In addition, Jeffrey Kantor, president and CEO at Hecht's/Strawbridge's in Arlington, Va., was named president for furniture at Macy's Home Store, a new post in New York that reports to Timothy Adams, the division's chairman and CEO.

According to Terry Lundgren, Federated chairman, president and CEO, “By retaining experienced executives from the May Company organization and combining their skills with Federated's existing division leadership, we will strengthen our Macy's divisions as we grow to serve customers in new geographic regions across the country.”

Kronick echoed these comments saying: “The combination of viewpoints from Federated and May Company will bring fresh ideas and additional energy to our Macy's brand, along with a continuing determination to improve our offering for our core customer.”
