Croscill Signs Bath Licenses, Expands Floral Bedding

By Michele SanFilippo -- Home Textiles Today, 10/31/2005

New York — Croscill Home has launched two bath accessory licenses by photographer Betsy Cameron and collector John Grossman, while rolling out an array of fresh floral bedding ensembles, many featuring outline or vermicelli quilting.

Each new bath collection features four patterns with full accessories plus towels and respectively takes inspiration from photographs or Victorian paper art. Another important trend in bath is novelty featuring such patterns as New York, with city street scenes; Happy Hour, with a martini theme; Vegas in a gaming motif; Rodeo Drive inspired by women's tortoise sunglasses; and Groomin'.

The Betsy Cameron bath collection includes Beach Memories with photographic images of children at the beach on a heat-transfer shower curtain and beachy accessories; Gardenia with blown-up floral motif and woven jacquard curtain; Dogwood with an embroidered floral curtain and wood/ceramic accessories; and Nautilus with a sheer curtain and shell-shaped resin accessories.

John Grossman's bath line has four patterns derived from vintage advertising. New looks include Garden Wings, featuring butterflies; Navigator with a sailing-the-ocean theme; Napa Valley in a leaf motif with sheer overlay double curtain; and Ocean Depths with an under-the-sea theme in a heat transfer on a poly cotton duck. Both Garden Wings and Navigator have resin accessories, while Napa Valley and Ocean Depths are in ceramic.

Meanwhile in bedding, the momentum in florals is growing to now include about 10 new looks in vintage-inspired or updated prints with special all-over quilting details in the $249.99 to $379.99 queen price range.

Some include: Olivia in pale aqua with vermicelli stitching; Princess, an heirloom outline quilted look with floral bands in soft yellow, green or blue; Mayfair, a citrus floral on an ivory ground in pale yellow, green or blue; Tulips with bouquets and vermicelli stitching; Mokara, a botanical floral on cotton duck with puzzle stitching; Kaui, a vat-dye printed floral with fringe; Veranda, a floral with outline quilting on tea-stain ground; Annette, a floral on cotton duck with crocheted accents; Charlotte, a vintage floral on a textured jacquard in natural colors; and Ashley, a heat-transfer floral on a natural ground.

In window, Croscill focused on a fresh palette in printed sheers with florals, ruffles and lace valances. Looks reflect trends and patterns from bedding but are less casual. The company also created new “snap bag” packaging for hardware that is easy to open with better visual display. It is experimenting with larger rods and some over-the-top looks.
