Felpinter Adds Techniques/Fibers, Enters Bath

By Michele SanFilippo -- Home Textiles Today, 5/2/2005

New York — Felpinter Sofil has rolled out new techniques and fibers in bath towels and introduced coordinating bath rugs and accessories as well as kitchen textiles for the Untied States.

Its new seaweed towel, Mink Terry by Sofil, is constructed of 20 percent SeaCell fibers and 80 percent combed Egyptian cotton. The 30-by-56-inch towel offers the feel of zero twist with no pilling, according to the company, and comes in six colors for $19.99.

Also new is a multi-height, three-dimensional towel called Natural Essence that is woven with a texture and depth. Three styles are offered as waves, honeycomb and geometric. A second new texture is the Sheep Wool construction, which has a higher density combed cotton with short loops and a textured ribbed border in an array of 20 colors.

The company has incorporated a traditional Portuguese toule technique in some of its Egyptian cotton towels as part of a greater embroidery line with four styles that feature perforations or cutwork in the hem. The four styles displaying this technique include: a double scallop, a honeycomb floral, an English lace border and a geometric lace look. The embroidery line features a total of 20 new styles that range from $9.99 to $19.99.

Felpinter Sofil has ventured into bath rugs and accessories with five styles in various metals and six rug designs. It introduced a line of cotton and linen or all-cotton napkins, tablecloths and tea towels in 24 styles in at least two colors each.
