Ralph Intros Studio Collection

By Jennifer Marks -- Home Textiles Today, 4/11/2005

At The New York Market — Ralph Lauren Home has initiated a new “collection” approach to opening price point programs: The Studio Collection.

The mix-and-match line of Lauren-branded Italian-printed, 150-count sheets, top-of-bed and throw covers is designed to coordinate with the Lauren Classic line of 350-count solid color sheeting and Lauren Classic jacquard bed blanket.

Studio does not represent a new opening price point for the Lauren brand. Rather, it brings more breadth and organization at that pricing level. Previously, Ralph Lauren Home introduced a single coordinated bed at the opening price point each market.

Cotton print sheets retail at $14.99 twin, $49.99 queen. Supima cotton sheets retail at $14.99 twin, $47.99 queen. Top-of-bed cotton prints retail at $129.99 twin, $159.99 queen. Retail on dec pillows, which are offered in five sizes, runs from $39.99 to $69.99.

Studio also includes cotton jacquard bath towels at $14.99, which coordinate back to the Lauren Classic solid color Supima towel at $12.99.

The inaugural program revolves around prints inspired by menswear, shirting and necktie motifs. The patterns include glen plaid, foulard, shirting stripe and multi-stripe. Most are offered in two to five color variations.

New patterns will rotate through the collection periodically.

The Lauren brand is also introducing six new beds that will ship at intervals between May and September.

Safari-inspired Rodeo Drive includes graphic zebra-striped sateen sheets paired with a top-of-bed constructed of raw silk, linen and heavyweight cotton. Worth Avenue consists of a navy blazer stripe duvet cover and shams with a sateen shirting stripe sheet in pink and light blue. Cold Spring tailors farmhouse style by playing black denim and cream corduroy against red rustic floral and gingham check patterns.

Greycliff mixes highland tartans, rich paisley prints and guncheck with white trousseau linens. Highfields evokes the garden with floral sateen sheets, a ruffled seersucker duvet and a cream cotton cable-knit blanket. Newburgh's sophisticated country look employs oversized windowpane plaid wool shams, floral sheeting inspired by transfer ware and a classic indigo floral quilt.

Jacquard bath towel coordinates are available for the Rodeo Drive, Greycliff and Newburgh groups.
