Peacock Teams With Vera Bradley

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/11/2005

At the New York Market —Peacock Alley, a designer of linens for the bed and bath, has entered its first licensing agreement to create linens and bedding accessories for Vera Bradley.

The line — Vera Bradley for Peacock Alley — will become part of the Vera Bradley My Home Collection. It will include coverlets, duvet covers, pillow shams, bedskirts, decorative pillows and drapery panels.

The three designs in the collection are available in three colorways.

Vera offers pastoral scenes on watercolor toile bedding adorned with pleated ruffles and coordinating trims; Bradley is Vera Bradley's signature paisley re-colored for the bedroom; and Seaside is a coral pattern designed as a coordinate for the Vera toile. Quilted and scalloped details on Seaside lend a simple look with its two-color design on all-cotton sateen fabric.

The new line marks the beginning of teamwork between Mary Ella Gabler, president and CEO of Peacock Alley and Barbara Baekgaard, CEO of Vera Bradley.

“Both of our companies are women-owned,” said Gabler. “We understand the special touches that create a comfortable living environment in the home. We have called upon our collective years of experience in textiles and design to introduce this collection.”

In other Peacock Alley news, the company introduced a new spring line at this week's New York Home Textiles Show called Out of This World.

The collection features bedding ensembles in four colorways:

The Kenya top-of-bed collection features lightweight chenille in hues of bronze, glacier and ivory. Knife-edged decorative pillows come in jaguar and zebra motifs. The ensemble is reversible and washable.

Shangri-la features Asian orchids and brightly colored butterflies on backdrops of pistachio green and petal pink. Shams and quilted coverlets are scalloped, and the duvet is color reversible.

Marrakech is adorned with rich paisleys and accents of ebony, green and gold. For a vintage paisley appeal; rose, taupe and blue lend a softer look. Coordinating tweed flange trim on the shams finishes the motif.

Casablanca features brightly colored peonies in vibrant hues of red with a natural textured background accented with crimson ribbon on the shams.
