Bethpage, N.Y. — Kravet Fabrics has reorganized the Laura Ashley licensed decorative fabric program that had been under the aegis of Meri Stevens.

Stevens, a veteran decorative fabric design and marketing consultant, has headed the program since its inception. She has retired, said Cary Kravet, company president.

Burt Kaplan, president of the company's Portfolio division, will be in charge of the converted fabrics segment of the Laura Ashley collection, while a team of Kravet design and product specialists will work on the cut order part of the collection.

Cranston, R.I. — John Shane Decorative Sales will represent the new home decorating fabric collection being launched by Cranston, a division of Cranston Print Works.

Shane, formerly with The Robert Allen Group, reports to Hedi Fitz, vice president, sales, and will represent the firm in all channels of distribution in the Carolinas and Tennessee. “John also will be consulting with us concerning many elements of the home decorating program and developing a sales organization,” said Fitz.

Greensboro, N.C. — J. Derrill Rice has joined International Textile Group as president of the Interior Fabrics division, a new position.

Rice, who reports to Joseph Gorga, president and CEO of ITG, formerly was president of new businesses for Interface Fabrics Group, and earlier was president of Interface's Chatham Inc. He began his textiles career with Milliken & Co.

The Interior Fabrics division includes the Burlington House and Cone Jacquards business units. The businesses offer a range of interior fabrics for top-of-bed, window, residential upholstery, mattresses, and accent decor as well as contract fabrics for corporate, hospitality, and healthcare environments.

The Interior Fabrics division, formerly known as the Home Furnishings business, consists of Burlington House and Cone Jacquards. ITG was formed in March with the acquisition of Cone Mills by Wilbur L. Ross who in 2003 acquired Burlington Inds.
