PHI Grows Licensed Artist Roster

Brewster, Magsamen and Winget to Produce Lines

By Michele SanFilippo -- Home Textiles Today, 12/6/2004

So. San Francisco, Calif. —Peking Handicraft, Inc. (PHI) continues to grow its roster of licensed artists for decorative accessories, giftware, rugs and quilts with the recent addition of children's book illustrator Patience Brewster and brand-new designers Sandra Magsamen and Susan Winget.

The company will interpret Magsamen's signature images and “Messages from the Heart” sayings on a line of cocktail napkins and oversized towels with an array of design details such as heart charms stitched across towel edges. Her art can be personalized with special messages.

Winget's designs aim to capture the nostalgia of country living with a traditional aesthetic. Her art will be featured on hook rugs 3-by-5 feet in size and smaller, needlepoint and hook decorative pillows, and linen towels and cocktail napkins.

“Winget will be a wonderful addition to our ever-growing folk art category of home décor items,” said Derrick Lo, manager of PHI's gift division.

PHI currently works with 20 designers, including Brewster, on linen guest towels featuring her holiday-inspired characters, Warren Kimble, Debbie Mumm and Tracy Porter.

The Magsamen and Winget lines will debut at the January gift show in Atlanta.
