Louisville Repositions Showroom

By Michele SanFilippo -- Home Textiles Today, 10/25/2004

New York—Louisville Bedding repositioned its showroom from a marketing and merchandising standpoint at the recently held New York Home Textiles Market, with one side for comfort, the other for protection.

The left side of the showroom featured vinyl bags and polypropylene laminate backs to illustrate protection, while the right side spoke to comfort with mattress pads. Nine pads were shown, seven had circular knit covers, one was chenille and one was faux suede.

“We think terries and velours are going to be strong because of the soft hand and comfortable, relaxing feel,” explained Scott Walters, director of product development at Louisville. There are five offerings in this fabrication with a hint of color in neutral or soft blue to retail for $69.99 to $119.99.

In mattress pads, the company has added twice the amount of elastic to its Maxi Grip product for a tighter grip and smoother, tighter wall. There are eight new fabrications, including a terry and various knits that range in price from $49.99 to $169.99 queen.

Louisville has also developed a new technology in mattress toppers from the automobile industry called Comfort Air that makes the product much cooler by allowing air to circulate. Two versions of the product will retail for $49.99 or $119.99 on a queen.

In foam, Louisville has developed a new Incline mattress pad that has five inches of polyurethane foam in twin to California king sizes that slopes down and is zoned with cells to support the heavier parts of the body. The product is designed to help back and respiratory problems as well as elevating to help reduce acid reflux disorder. It retails for $109.99 queen.

Louisville is also working on four additional variations of this concept in pads and one new pillow, all to be featured at the upcoming spring New York Home Textiles Market.
