From The New York Market —Hollander Home Fashions has added color and fashion jacquards in a big way to its basics programs, launched a nylon blanket line, grown down alternative business and added new pillow constructions.
The company has launched a new line of down-alternative comforters, pillows and featherbeds in 233-, 240- and 400-count microfiber construction. Another new item is the Down Plus line, which features a 50/50 mix of down and microfiber for added washability.
According to Andrew Schantz, vice president of basic bedding at Hollander, down alternative comforters are a third of the company's basics business now, due to the increasing number of allergies and growing raw materials costs.
Jacquard down comforters in 300- and 330-count constructions with jacquard patterns on one side and sateen on the other have also been added in eight to nine different designs, also in special maze, gold and antique colorations. Similar patterns are being offered in jacquard to jacquard down comforters in up to 10 varieties.
Overscale geometric patterns in polka dots, squares and chevron motifs are also new in 270-count ring-spun cotton, as are mini geometrics featuring herringbone, houndstooth, double stripe and ticking stripe.
Hollander is featuring jacquard duvets in about six different varieties in ecru, mustard and taupe for a more upscale hotel look set to retail for $130 for a queen duvet set. A queen sheet set plus duvet will retail for $170. Colors from the Chic Retreat fashion bedding palette (ecru, cadet and chocolate) and Garden Party palette (lilacs, opaline green, mellow rose and aqua) have also been added to basic jacquard duvets featuring a mini pinstripe in 250-count cotton.
There is also a brand-new nylon blanket line called Hollux in four colors (parchment, taupe, green and blue) set to retail for $30 twin, $40 full/queen and $50 king.
Hollander is continuing with its “How Do You Sleep” concept of pillow merchandising that gears constructions specifically to side, stomach and back sleepers.
The company has expanded its oval Super Side gusseted pillow construction by adding pastel-coded density-specific Comfort Colors throughout. It has introduced Super Side Plus with quilting and a pastel-coded density coloration in the side portion of the pillow. These offerings will retail for $10 and under. There is also a Quilted Top & Bottom feather pillow in Super Side, a down Super Side pillow, and an Ultra Silk Quilted pillow in down.
Down alternative has continued in pillows as well with a poly-silk construction featuring mini box quilting and a puff-ball fill for a $13 retail. The Down Touch pillow is a down alternative in 400-count sateen with oversized box quilting, microfiber cover and puff-ball fiber fill.
In feather and down pillows, the company is introducing the Hotel Basics line to hit the main tier with three-star, four-star and five-star pillows that go from feather fill, 85/15 feather and duck down, and just duck down. Prices go from $10, $15/$20 to $40 and pillows feature the appropriate amount of embroidered stars.
“We are seeing a lot more blends of feather and down now, with more down in the blends and more education coming from our industry about the support (that) feathers provide for a pillow,” explained Beth Mack, senior vice president of basic bedding at Hollander, adding that the best pillow has a 50/50 mix of feathers and white goose down.
In Cuddle Rounds, Hollander has added a microvelour stuffed pillow with puff-ball poly fill, a new Poodle fabrication in CuddleRoll, Cuddle Mini, Body Pillow sizes, and a new mink-like faux fur look in all sizes.
