Albani Decotex Making 'Strides'

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 10/8/2004

Gloversville, N.Y. —Albani Decotex will introduce its new Cherry Valley Home label in window, shower curtains and table top at the upcoming New York Home Textiles Market.

The three-year-old company, based in upstate New York, is an independent subsidiary of Germany's Carl Albani GMBH, a third-generation, family-owned textiles company with plants in several countries. Although Albani Decotex initially built its business in Europe and the United States, over the past year it has made “significant strides” with U.S. retailers, according to Greg Leibowitz, director of sales and logistics.

“We are currently doing business with some of the larger regional and nationwide retailers here in the states,” he said, adding that the company creates product under private label as well as its own Decotex brand.

Leibowitz previously held positions with Hofman Lace/Guilford Mills. Also part of the Albani group is Brenda Wagner, director of merchandising. She was previously with Guilford Mills and Homestead.

Albani Decotex product is made at the company's factory in Saigon, which handles raschel knitting as well as cut-and-sew for its product lines.

“We ship the complete retail package from Vietnam,” Leibowtiz said. “We combine American customer service and in-house design with Asian manufacturing to create the best quality product at the lowest possible prices.”

The company will be showing at Le Marquis Hotel during market week.
