Springs names Simon basic bedding president

FORT MILL, S.C. — Harvey Simon, former vice president of merchandising for bedding, has been named president of Springs Industries' basic bedding business, following the departure of Randy Spence. Tim Landers has been promoted to Simon's former position.
Prior to his recent role, Simon led an internal business improvement effort from 2000 to 2001, served in senior leadership roles in merchandising and sales, and managed the outlet store division. He joined Springs in 1993 after working in the retail industry for several years at Lenox, Jordan Marsh and Filene's.
Simon reports to Tom O'Connor, executive vice president and head of sales and marketing. "Simon's diverse work experience at Springs and in prior organizations will serve him well in this new position," said O'Connor.
On June 23, Spence announced he was leaving Springs to pursue other opportunities. He had been president of basic bedding since August 2003 and with the company since 2001.
Prior to his new appointment, Landers was sheet merchandise manager for the bedding unit. He will report to Tom Gaffney, executive vice president and president of the bedding and soft window units.
Landers began his career with Springs in 1991 as a sales rep in Dallas for the Wamsutta division.
