Arrow to produce Kathy Ireland line

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 7/12/2004

ANAHEIM, CALIF. — Representing its first licensing partnership in its almost 25 years in business, Arrow Home Fashions, a division of Arrow Industries, recently partnered with Kathy Ireland Worldwide to produce a line of coordinating soft bedroom products to be distributed under the Kathy Ireland Home brand.

Ireland, whose other textiles licensees include Shaw Living for rugs, will serve as chief designer. Products being developed under the partnership include sheets, comforters, duvet covers, soft window treatments, accessory pillows, throws, quilts, down products, bed pillows and mattress pads.

Kathy Ireland Home by Arrow Home Fashions also plans to unveil a deep-pocket sheet-set program.

"This program is designed for hard-to-fit specialty mattresses," Ireland said. "The fitted sheet is designed to fit both soft sided and hard-sided waterbed mattresses. The fitted sheet has elastic all the way around. Known as a shower cap finish, the deep pocket sheet will stay on the bed and not pop off."

The pocket is 18 inches deep and accommodates a mattress that is up to 20 inches deep.

"This announcement not only changes the overall dimension for us at Arrow Home Fashions, but it strengthens the company's reach at retail," said Rich Sperber, executive vice president of marketing and operations, Kathy Ireland Home by Arrow Home Fashions. "Over the past two years, we've been strategizing to develop new retail opportunities. With its strong consumer awareness and brand equity in the marketplace, we intend to offer many wonderful new innovations and styles to the marketplace under the Kathy Ireland Home brand that will serve our retail partners."

Tentatively scheduled for unveiling in October during the New York Home Textiles Market, the line's initial offerings will include bedroom linen products inspired by Kathy's two supporting Kathy Ireland Home Brands: ACafe by Chef André Carthen, which centers on culinary themes; and Jardin du Jour Garden of the Day by Nicholas Walker, designed for outdoor lifestyles.
