Springs names new basic bedding head

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 7/1/2004

FORT MILL, S.C. — Harvey Simon, former vice president of merchandising for bedding, has been named president of Springs Industries' basic bedding business unit, following the recent departure of Randy Spence.

Prior to his recent role, Simon led an internal business improvement effort from 2000 to 2001, served in senior leadership roles in merchandising and sales, and managed the outlet store division. He joined Springs in 1993 after working in the retail industry for several years at Lenox, Jordan Marsh and Filene's.

Simon reports to Tom O'Connor, executive vice president and head of sales and marketing. "Simon's diverse work experience at Springs and in prior organizations will serve him well in this new position," said O'Connor.

On June 23, Spence announced he was leaving Springs to pursue other opportunities. He had been president of basic bedding since August 2003 and with the company since 2001.
