Macy's Home reshuffles executives

NEW YORK — Macy's Home Stores new organizational structure will consist of a senior vice president, stores, home store; a vice president, regional merchandising for the home store for each division; and regional merchandise managers — one per every eight stores, reporting to the vice president — said Eric Salus, Macy's Home Stores president.

The vice president will report to the senior vice president, stores, but have strong working relationships with the merchant and operating principals in the division, he said.

The vice president will also participate on the division's executive committee and be responsible for communicating the central Home Store merchandising strategy to division and store executives, as well as serving as the primary division contact for the central merchants, planners and visual executives.

The stores organization's primary responsibility will be to assist in the development of assortment plans by door based on region and store-specific trends, local competition, customer preferences, and associate feedback to maximize sales and profitability of the home store business.

The following appointments have been made in the stores' organization:

  • Doug Wales, vice president, regional merchandising, Bon-Macy's; most recently regional vice president, furniture stores and store staffing, since March 2003.
  • Karin Darmenin, vice president, regional merchandising, Burdines-Macy's; most recently regional vice president, furniture stores and store staffing, since March 2003.
  • Larry Mentzer, vice president, regional merchandising, Macy's East; most recently vice president, regional merchandise planning, since January 2004.
  • Patti Ongman, vice president, regional merchandising, Macy's West; most recently divisional merchandising manager, furniture and interior design at Macy's West, vice president, merchandising, for Macy's.
  • Mark Standish, vice president, regional merchandising, Rich's/Lazarus/Goldsmith's-Macy's; most recently the divisional merchandising manager at Rich's/Lazarus/ Goldsmith's-Macy's.

Macy's Home Store has also made additional appointments to its home textiles business:

  • Mike Binenstock, currently divisional merchandising manager, home textiles, Burdines, has been named vice president, moderate bedding. He reports to Dave Vernon, senior vice president, textiles.
  • David Merrick has been named buyer of luxury and Charter Club. He was buyer of Ralph Lauren at Macy's West.
