Waverly expands bath for specialty

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/29/2004

NEW YORK — Waverly is expanding into a coordinated bath program for its specialty channel distribution through a licensing partnership with Springs Industries, which also produces Waverly Garden Room products in several categories for distribution in the mass market.

The program consists of four Waverly designs and will offer fabric shower curtains, curtain hooks, nylon accent bath rugs and a full line of accessories including soap dish, wastebasket, toothbrush holder, lotion pump, tissue cover, tumbler and covered jar. Coordinating bath, hand and fingertip towels are also available.

Waverly is currently in 10 categories at specialty stores: bedding, bath coordinates, dinnerware, table linens/kitchens, rugs, personal care/storage, paper goods, window treatments, decorative pillows and embellished towels.

The 100 percent sheared cotton bath towels cost $16.99, with some bordered and some embroidered.

The shower curtain in Forever Yours combines a body of trailing floral bouquets of oversized peonies with a textured top valance separated by a multi-twist cord. The accessories are ceramic with floral decal. Embellished towels, area rugs and curtain hooks of peony heads complete the set.

Fair Oaks, a botanical fern design on textured ground, is the second design. It has a solid red textured box pleat bottom treatment with cord accent. The accessories will be shown in two different styles — a solid-colored ceramic group with real bamboo accents and a textured resin group that mimics the texture in the shower curtain cloth. The curtain hooks are square with basket weave texture. Coordinating towels and area rug are available.

A clean novelty print, Ahoy Matey is the third design. The shower curtain is blue and white check with nautical motifs in the center of each check. The hooks are anchors on white rope. Bath accessories are ceramic with nautical theme decals accented with ceramic rope. Solid blue towels and area rugs coordinate.

The last design is Clifton Knolls, a mocha and chocolate brown paisley. The curtain hooks are brass rings and the accessories are wood and ceramic with paisley decal. A tonal paisley rug and solid towels finished with pin tuck complete the group.

Both Forever Yours and Clifton Knolls work with current Waverly bedding ensembles, said the company.
