Avonhome creates post for Mooney

NEW YORK — Avonhome, a supplier of table linens and kitchen textiles has promoted Chris Mooney to the new position of executive vp, sales and merchandising.

Mooney has spent the past four years of his career working at Avonhome, originally as a consultant and more recently as vp, marketing and design.

George Kouri, Jr., president, created the post for Mooney as part of the company's recent restructuring of its sales and marketing division to better serve new and developing customers as well as to best market Avonhome's new "Style.Lab" concept, located at the company's showroom offices here.

"Chris' experience in design concept as well as merchandising adds a whole new dimension to our selling efforts. I think that Chris has the ability to evaluate a retailers product mix and offer both constructive and creative ideas, which should translate into increased dollars per square foot for the retailer as well as a more varied product selection for the ultimate consumer," Kouri said.

Mooney, who reports to Kouri, continues to work alongside Mary Bonanno, vp, creative services, with both based out of the company's Style.Lab. He also now works more closely with Neil Simonson, vp, sales, key accounts, who still reports directly to Kouri. Avonhome's seven independent sales representatives will report to Mooney.

"Mary and I will still be working closely to create our product introductions going forward, but we will now be able to merge an all-encompassing sales strategy with that development," Mooney said.

Before joining Avonhome, Mooney and Bonanno operated "Mary and Mooney," a product development and sourcing company. Prior to that, he spent eight years Homemaker Industries.
