A rich, soft Irish lilt translates into home

NEW YORK — Traditional knit styles, typically found in Irish sweaters, have been translated into soft, luxurious knitted fabrics for curtains, home textiles accessories and even upholstery.
The three-pattern collection created by Olivier Nourry of Metaphores of France and distributed here by Donghia Furniture/Textiles is a cotton-backed, 85 percent cotton/15 percent polyester blend offered in four neutral colorways. Patterns are Connemara, a wide rib; Donegal, a tight interlock; and Tipperary, a looped purl.
The three styles have been tested for abrasion resistance, colorfastness, seam slippage, breaking strength and resistance to pilling. In the Wyzenbeek abrasion test, for example, the fabrics rested for 10,000 double rubs, more than 50,000 double rubs and 5,000 double rubs respectively.
