AT THE NEW YORK MARKET — Hollander Home Fashions has unveiled a new concept this market, featuring a cross section of opening-room offerings entitled Crossroads to represent trends, looks, colorations, themes and sourcing abilities it believes are key.
With beds dubbed Verve, Mambo, Gypsy and Argentina, the opening line is designed to display exactly where Hollander is headed in terms of fashion.
For example, Verve features a sleek tailored and pin-tucked comforter that is pleated with a mitered border in shimmery textures of bordeaux, old rose, celery, taupe and bronze. Puckered stretch Euros in bordeaux add a whimsical flair to the bed's modern look that represents contemporary lifestyles. Mambo offers contemporary patches in a puckered plum/teal cross dye with a sparkling mulberry crushed stria that borrows fabrics and techniques from the fashion industry. The bed's spiral quilt pattern adds a playful modern edge to the pieced ensemble with whimsical dec pillows and a puckered bordered bedskirt.
Gypsy has vibrant and exotic-colored stripes of turquoise, persimmon and aqua blue that mingle with amber printed textures and gilded paisleys for this Moroccan-inspired look. A shimmering satin weave in persimmon layers in as an accent embellishment along with festive tassel fringes on pillows and shams.
The Latin-inspired Argentina features colorful embroideries in turquoise, coral pink, orange spice, petal and chartreuse that adorn this diamond dobby weave in black. A classic tango fringe and black lace motifs enhance the look.
Throughout the rest of the showroom, Hollander is introducing an extensive line-up of products in the Hampton, Karen Neuburger, Park Avenue, Nob Hill and Hollander Kids collections.
Its young and easy-living Hampton offerings include Gracious Garden, Sheer Romance and Nantucket. Gracious Garden is a fresh country casual scalloped comforter that imparts a new twist on a charming classic theme.
Familiar and comforting rickrack details embellish linen-colored chambray patches, while ribbon-embroidered bouquets and vine motifs adorn this patched and quilted look.
Sheer Romance offers a shiny garden botanical in lavender, mint and clear blue for a light and airy windowpane design. Multi-colored embroideries and sheer overlays enhance the look with a petit sheer ribbon ruffled comforter edge and sheer overlay embroidered skirt in blue.
Nantucket has a fun Americana look with country cottage flair in calicos that mingle with patches of denim blue and putty. Plum and violet sheer ribbon embroidered flowers and ribbon stitching offer a new interpretation of a classic quilting design.
Karen Neuburger introductions include Silk Expressions, Lavender Breeze, Joy, Audrey, Jasmine and Poppy.
Silk Expressions is a sumptuous line of box-quilted down filled silk dupioni quilts and throws designed for today's casual elegant lifestyle. The line includes coordinating shams, Euros and bedskirts available in a shimmering brick, sage, silver, amethyst and gold. It works as a complete bedroom look or as a modern and comfortable layer-in accessory. The pattern was shown with Springfield, an embellished comforter in sage shantung with delicate embroidered bouquets of persimmon, slate and pale indigo mini blooms.
Lavender Breeze offers a delicate meandering vine in soft lavender woven into a creamy dimensional matelassé. Cozy and comfortable, this natural look creates a positive/negative effect with cotton organdy embroidered decorative pillows, Euros and bedskirt. All are offset by a subtle textured stripe sheet design.
Joy offers modern long-stemmed blooms in sage with a subtle Asian flair elegantly placed on a textured shimmering ground with horizontal flecks of soft gold yarns on a celadon field. Layers of dupioni silk define the accessories while a tone-on-tone sheet of tossed flowers complete the look.
Luxurious and rich, Audrey is a stylized floral ensemble in plush chenille and velvet colored in vivid cobalt blue tones. Tossed blossoms on a crisp white ground offset the dramatic look. Textured slub cloth and fabric-covered buttons bring additional detailing and dimension to the ensemble.
Jasmine represents a soft and comfortable chambray and linen-like texture in a muted tonal range from lavender and lilac to rosy mauve that is pieced and engineered. Embroideries work with appliqué and sheer overlay details. A tattersall plaid adds a handsome detail to this romantic ensemble.
Poppy is a plush modern textural tapestry with long-stemmed single blooms in brick carefully spaced on a rich straw-colored chenille field. A mini-scale version of vertical blooms provides contrast that is offset by rich dupioni silk in brick. A menswear plaid works as the sheet design for a more tailored element.
In Park Avenue, Hollander is introducing 10 patterns on beds that will retail for $299 as queen All in the Bag products and $249 comforter sets. They include Paisley Shawl, Elite, Desert Bloom, Montana, Lauren, Fern Fantasy, Windsor Garden, Operetta, Breckenridge and Shetland.
Montana, for instance, features faux shearling for a pieced sherpa look on the reverse. Desert Bloom offers a buttery microsuede that is embroidered on a mitered comforter in soft chamois and sand tones with mesa brown flower embroidery for a hand-stitched lattice effect with a modern, contemporary appeal.
In Nob Hill, Hollander is rolling out eight jacquard designs this market: Regal Rose, Marietta, Opus, Mystic, Jonquil, Sherbrooke, Grace and Midnight Express. The collection represents upscale looks at moderate price points..
Marietta offers a combo of curry, paprika, brick and deep olive textured yarns in an exotic framed paisley medallion.
According to Sandy McNeil, president, fashion bedding division, this market's Nob Hill looks are the types of beds the company would have shown in its Park Avenue collection last spring. "We believe in raising our value, not lowering our price points," she stressed.
Hollander Kids will also offer an extensive line-up with nine patterns that reverse to a coordinate picked up in the bedding ensemble for a two-in-one comforter approach. The new looks are Spring Song, Happy Sassy, Wish Upon A Star, Laura, Pocket Full of Posies, Wild, Wild West, Kyoto, Leyla and Hank Player Sports Odyssey.
