Retailer of the Year awards

Several hundred executives gathered to honor five of their own on Sunday, March 30, for their dedication and achievement to the home textiles industry.
Alan Gladstone, chairman, ceo and president, Anna's Linens, was honored as Outstanding Merchant of the Year. Target Corp. received an award for Innovative Brand Creation & Development, and Sandi Doyle, vp and merchandise manager, domestics, accepted the award. Lowe's achieved recognition as an Emerging Force in Home Textiles, and Jean Melton, merchandising vp, represented her company for the evening. Lynne Jenkins was honored for her store, Lynnens, which received the Excellence in Visual Merchandising award. And Century 21 Department Stores received a special New York, New York award, with Al Gindi, ceo and founder, accepting.
Held at The Pierre Hotel, the event is in its 18th year, and is co-sponsored by George Little Management and the Home Fashions Products Association.
