Home Wear likes its kitchen in the mix

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/31/2003

AT THE NEW YORK MARKET After a trial run over the past year, Home Wear, the contemporary lifestyle casual goods division of table linens supplier Sam Hedaya Linens Corp., is making the kitchen textiles category a permanent addition to its offerings.

"We saw there was a real demand out there with our customers for more product," said Cheryl Ross, director of marketing.

For the spring New York Home Textiles Market, Home Wear has increased its kitchen textiles offerings by more than 50 percent, which translates to 12 collections and "many, many new designs," said Ross. Colorways will be centered on plum, jewel tones, gold, green and spice.

Products include chair pads, potholders, oven mitts, kitchen towels and aprons. All of these collections will directly coordinate with the Home Wear division's table linens offerings, including tablecloths, tablecloth round toppers, runners, napkins and place mats.

Constructions for the kitchen textiles include 100 percent cotton, cotton terry for the towels and the lining of the potholders and oven mitts and the company's VISA stain-resistant fabric made of polyester with fire retardant.

The kitchen textiles are targeted at specialty and department stores. Retail price points are set at $3.99 for a potholder and $4.99 for an oven mitt.

Special labels and hangtags have been created for the line.
