NEW YORK — After 18 years with the company, Gerry Hufnagel last week announced his resignation from his post as vp, basic bath merchandising, at Ex-Cell Home Fashions.
He told HTT he is taking some time off from the industry to spend time with his family and do some traveling.
But as new business opportunities arise in the future, Hufnagel hopes to rejoin the industry in a position in which he can "make a contribution, one that makes sense for me and that company," he said.
Hufnagel joined Ex-Cell originally as vp, merchandising, for the decorative pillow division. He has held is current position for the past eight years. Prior to Ex-Cell, Hufnagel worked in various executive merchandising posts within the textile industry.
For the time being, the company does not plan to fill Hufnagel's position, David North, vp, marketing development.
"[Hufnagel] has made a tremendous contribution to the growth of Ex-Cell over his many years and will be sincerely missed," said Charlie Barrese, senior vp, merchandising.
