COLUMBUS, OH — Big Lots has selected a former Gottschalks executive as its senior vp and chief information officer to succeed Steven Bromet, who announced his retirement effective March 2004.

Reporting to Albert Bell, vice chairman and chief administrative officer, John Zavada has extensive experience leading information technology organizations in the retail industry.

Prior to joining Big Lots, he was vp, merchandise planning and chief information officer, at Gottschalks. He has also served as vp, merchandising systems, at The Limited, and vp and chief information officer, Victoria Secret Stores.
