Echo Designs a license for Creative Bath entry

Marvin Lazaro -- Home Textiles Today, 2/10/2003

NEW YORK — The Echo Design Group is expanding its reach across home textiles through a licensing agreement with Creative Bath Products.

Shower curtains, towels, bathroom accessories and decorative pillows will all be supplied by Creative Bath and its Creative Home Furnishings division, which plans to unveil products in April. The line will be labeled The Echo Design Collection.

Five shower curtains will have fully coordinated accessories, while four bath collections — African Queen, Dancing in the Streets, Hollywood and Tahiti — include coordinating bath accessories, jacquard and embroidered towels and bath mats.

The decorative pillows is also divided into four collections, Africa Queen, Dancing in the Streets, Sedona and Solid Dupione.

Steven Roberts, co-president of The Echo Design Group, called Creative Bath a "remarkable company" and a "wonderful ally."

"This is an important step for The Echo Design Group as we continue to develop and expand as a leader in the world of home design," he added.

Said Mat Meinzinger, owner of Creative Bath, "Our goals are the same: to bring well-designed, quality products to a customer base that appreciates fine detail and workmanship. This is a partnership that will endure and grow for many years to come."

According to Roberts, some of the patterns used by Echo's licensees will overlap with patterns from licensees of other products. He stressed that Echo's concentration is always on forward-moving patterns rather than archival since "the customer wants newness." But, he added, licensees and Echo "always refer to the archives."

Revman Industries, Trade Am and Kravet Fabrics Inc. are already among Echo's licensees in the soft home arena. Revman supplies Echo Home bedding ensembles, while Trade Am is a supplier of area/accent rugs and throws. Kravet supplies both woven and printed fabrics. Echo also has licenses for other products, including wallcoverings and paper goods.

Roberts also said that Echo had more plans in the licensing arena and would perhaps seek agreements with a furniture manufacturer as well as a hard tabletop manufacturer.

Echo Home's newest additions to its lineup, which were unveiled during the winter market in Revman's New York showroom, are the Java, Fiji, Harbor Springs and Grand Floral bed ensembles.

A complete line of throws supplied by Trade Am have also been added to the Echo Home line.
