Brylane DC goes union

INDIANAPOLIS — After working to obtain union representation for 15 months, Brylane distribution center employees here last week obtained the right to join the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textiles Employees (UNITE). The 800 employees became union members through a card-check neutrality process, rather than the election process Brylane had sought.
"Brylane should be congratulated for agreeing to the card-check neutrality process and should be seen as a positive example for other employers," said Bruce Raynor, president, UNITE.
Workers began organizing a union with UNITE in October 2001, UNITE said, to address health and safety concerns.
