Three showrooms grow at 295 5th

NEW YORK— Three tenants of 295 Fifth Avenue here are expanding their showrooms by at least half their original size in time for the spring New York Home Textiles Market, according to Claude Litton, president, Manhattan Properties Co., which owns the building.

Oriental Weavers is more than tripling the size of its showroom by moving out of its 1,750-square-foot space to a 6,000-square-foot space, which is part of Guilford Home Fashions' former showroom. The added space will allow the company to accommodate the product of its Sphinx division, which imports handmade rugs.

"For the [next market event] we will house both ourselves and Sphinx," Traci Powell, director of sales support for Oriental Weavers of America, told HTT. "We've grown so much that we needed more room, and Sphinx has never showed in New York and has wanted to. So we've joined up as in Atlanta."

Also taking a piece of the former Guilford showroom is beach and bath towel supplier Teka, which is enlarging its showroom by moving to a 3,500-square-foot space from its former site, which is 1,700 square feet.

And finally towel supplier Kassatex is taking over Teka's former space, in effect almost doubling the size of its former showroom, which is 937 square feet.
