Martha unveils latest holiday collection

NEW YORK — Martha Stewart Living and Kmart previewed the Martha Stewart Everyday holiday collection to the press last week, which centers around seven holiday themes.

Containing about 1,000 new items — including 105 colors of Christmas ornaments — the holiday collection is rolling out to all stores now, and should be completed within a week or two, Kmart said. Price points range from $1.99 for 50 ribbon ornament hangers to $49.99 for a tree skirt.

This season's themes include Golden Luster, an elegantly formal collection in shimmering metallic tones; Christmas Favorites, which uses the Martha Stewart Living color palette of green and pale blue and includes whimsical ornaments such as Faberge-inspired eggs; Classic Christmas, a more traditional look in classic colors and Christmas icons; Gumdrops & Candy Canes, in a bright, playful color palette with such shatterproof, novelty ornaments as gumdrop people and candy canes; Woodland Holiday, with deep, rich holiday shades like burgundy and gold, and with bird ornaments and pine cone details; Winter Blossoms, which conjures up a romantic Victorian Christmas with glass balls, floral accents and iridescent Venetian glass shapes; and First Snowfall, a range of silver and blue decorations, including icicles and bells.

Though product falls mostly into the holiday decorating categories of tree ornaments and lights, wreaths and gift wrap, Kmart said that the soft home product complements the collection. About five flannel sheet patterns are part of the introduction, several of which cross over more than one of the holiday themes. The sheets range from $14.99 to $44.99, in twin, full, queen and king sizes. Tree skirts, to be merchandised in the seasonal section of the stores, will retail at three price points, $19.99, $29.99 and $49.99, while pillows include a tapestry item for $9.99 and a chenille one at $12.99.
