Wal-Mart consolidates buying responsibilities

Basic, fashion bedding represent one position now

By Andrea Lillo -- Home Textiles Today, 10/28/2002

BENTONVILLE, AR — Wal-Mart has announced it made changes last week within its buying division, combining the basic and fashion bedding responsibilities into one position.

Steve Huth, who was previously the basic bedding buyer, has been promoted to another position within the information systems area, said Dick Fish, vp, dmm, domestics. Tina Bahler, who buys fashion bedding, will take on the basic bedding responsibilities as well, he said. "It will help develop synergy between the different product categories and eliminate duplication," he said. "And one person's vision will be better than [that of ] two or three people."
