Nourison expands washable wovens

SADDLE BROOK, NJ — At this season's market, Nourison will add to its washable woven line with new sizes in its handmade group, as well as a new machinemade one offering.
The washable woven line is "what separates us from the other companies," said Gary Shafran, sales and marketing manager, accent rugs. "The customer is getting a true hook rug — with the appearance of a wool product — which is also washable."
The ability to wash the rugs is due both to the polyacrylic yarn system Nourison uses, as well as the backing.
The existing EveryWares line of hand-made rugs will emphasize its two available constructions, hooked and carved, and tufted and carved. The company will also focus on the new 5' x 7.5' size, with potential retails in the $150 range, which is a size and price point that Nourison has found works well for retailers, said Shafran. More than 100 designs are available, including tropical and florals, as well as an extended group of contemporary and transitional. A 2' x 3' size will retail between $24.99 to $34.99.
The brand-new ValueWeave will represent the washable woven's machine-made assortment, which is also hand-carved. "It's a promotional vehicle for accent rugs," said Shafran. The collection, also of a blended polyacrylic yarn, comes in about 100 designs, as well as shapes such as kitchen slices and scalloped edging. A 2' x 3' rug will retail for $14.99 to $19.99.
"We can make any size and any shade in either group," he said. "There are no limitations."
