Dollar General bumps up several executives

GOODLETTSVILLE, TN — Dollar General Corp. has bolstered its human resources, merchandising support and transportation departments with a number of officer-level promotions.
Melissa Buffington has been promoted to senior vp, human development and planning. She joined the company in 1999 as vp, corporate human resources. She most recently held the position of vp, chief administrative officer.
Jeff Rice has been promoted to vp, human resources. Rice has been with the company for 21 years, serving most recently as senior director of compensation, employee relations and human resources.
In addition, Rita Branham has been promoted to vp, merchandise support. Branham joined the company in July 1981 as a drop shipment clerk and continued working in the accounting department in various positions until 1985, when she was promoted to a buyer's assistant in the merchandising department.
Finally, Tony Davis has been promoted to vp of transportation. He joined the company in 1999 as director of transportation.
