Mohawk consolidates into larger NY showroom

By Cecile B. Corral -- Home Textiles Today, 8/26/2002

NEW YORK — Mohawk Home is taking over the former Burlington House showroom here in suite 1412 at 295 Fifth Ave. for the upcoming New York Home Textiles Market in October.

The space, one of the home textiles building's largest showrooms boasting 20,734 square feet, allows the Sugar Valley, GA-based company to consolidate its two existing New York showrooms into a single space.

Previously, Mohawk Home rented a 9,227-square-foot showroom in suite 718 as well as a smaller, 23rd-floor showroom for its upscale Newmark/Goodwin Weavers division at 261 Fifth Ave.

"It's a beautiful space and it's in great condition, which makes it easy for us to move in for this coming market event," Jeff Jacobs, vp, marketing, Mohawk Home, told Home Textiles Today about the new space."It needs a minimal amount of construction. For now, we are just going to move in and set up for market. Burlington did a great job with it — the space is already very well configured, so we can benefit from having all of our divisions together in one spot. Now buyers can see the full extent of our product line."

Claude Litton, president of Manhattan Properties Company, which owns the 295 Fifth Avenue building, told HTT that in addition to Mohawk Home's former seventh-floor space, there are a number of showrooms available for the upcoming October market.
