HILL JOINS CRANSTON

CRANSTON, RI — Kathleen Hill has joined Cranston Consumer Products (CCP) as merchandising manager.

Hill, who had been marketing manager for Concord Fabrics, and earlier was fabric and notions buyer for Fabric Bonanza, reports to Andrew Sylvia, CCP president.

She is based at the firm's New York office and is part of the design, sales and supply chain team. Her major responsibilities include working with CCP's Chicago-based marketing agency, Responsive Marketing Communications, in developing programs with pattern companies, managing the CCP catalogs, caps, sample commitments and website content as well as working with key sales account managers.

LAMONTAGE TECHNIQUE EXPANDED

NEW YORK — Liora Manne, designer of the Lamontage process for rugs, has introduced decorative fabric and wall coverings using the technique.

Lamontage uses acrylic fibers of different colors that are layered and needlepunched to create an interplay of color and design shadings.

The first collection is called Shadows, which reflects the effect created to resemble soft shadings and brushstroke effects in an earthy color palette. There are 11 designs in the Shadows collection, which will be followed by standard and custom designs.

The fabrics are being distributed by Innovations through its seven showrooms around the country and in rep showrooms Dallas, Houston and Seattle.

CHRIS STONE ADDS SWIRBUL

VERNON, CA — Jay Swirbul has joined Chris Stone as a sales representative for Florida.

Swirbul, who reports to Lew Magrish, national sales director, succeeds Ben Minkoff, who has left the firm. Swirbul was with Covington Fabrics' Spectrum division.

FRANKFURT SUNDAY CONTINUES

FRANKFURT, GERMANY — Heimtextil in January 2003 will feature Heimtextil Sunday on January 12 for the second time.

The launch of the Heimtextil Sunday this year had 343 exhibitors from Germany and 312 exhibitors from abroad as participants. About 7,000 consumers visited the exhibition halls last year.

Trend forums will be an important feature. Halls 3.0/3.1, 5.1, 6.1 and 8.0 will be open to consumers on that Sunday. Exhibitors not showing in these halls will not have consumers coming through.
