Moving the goods out the door
Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 8/12/2002
| OUT IN FRONT: In last year's recession and consumer spending slowdown, building inventories and moving the product out the door became more of a tricky, critical issue. It is particularly challenging when suppliers are increasingly trying to balance what they produce in the United States and what they bring in from abroad. It says a lot about the current state of the industry that of the three highest rates of return recorded in this year's Report Card, only one came from a home fashions producer, Quaker Fabric. The other two companies, Wellman and Polymer Group, are further down the supply chain as suppliers to finished goods producers. | |

| PICKING UP THE REAR: Far behind in inventory turns in a year of stunted retail sales, were three big home fashions producers. | |

| 2. WestPoint Stevens | 3.4 |
| 3. Pillowtex | 4.3 |
