Sphinx gets Stringer to go West

DALTON, GA — Area rug importer Sphinx, a division of Oriental Weavers, recently named Roger Stringer to the newly created post of West Coast regional manager. Newly appointed executive vp of sales and marketing Mike Riley made the announcement.
Stringer, who will assume his new post this week, is based in the San Francisco area and will oversee the expansion of the sales force and implement new marketing and sales strategies. His position is designed to offer the company an opportunity to better manage its growing business in the Western region of the country.
"Roger is another experienced industry professional we are excited to add to the Sphinx team," Riley said. Stringer will report directly to Riley. "He brings retail and department store experience, as well as a strong wholesale and sales force management background. He is well acquainted with and respected by all the major accounts on the West Coast."
Stringer formerly worked for Fort Lee, NJ-based Couristan for the past five years, serving most recently as vp of sales for the West Coast region and prior to that as regional manager. He has almost 15 years of experience in retail management, working in buying offices and operations management for major department stores including The Bon Marché.
"I believe my extensive retail and management background will contribute to the future success of Sphinx as we continue to build both the machine-made and handmade business," Stringer said. "I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with Mike Riley as he builds his own management team and begins a new era at Sphinx.
