American Pacific to add Dockers bedding

SAN FRANCISCO — American Pacific Enterprises and Levi Strauss & Co. announced last week the signing of a new licensing agreement for a line of Dockers branded home textiles.
Under the agreement, American Pacific will design, manufacture and market bedding ensembles, sheets, towels, bath accessories and shower curtains under the Dockers label. A full line of decorative pillows and coordinated sheet sets is also planned.
According to both companies, the Dockers Home Collection will range in retail from $29.99 for a twin sheet set to $199.99 for the comforters.
Suzanne Griffin, marketing manager for American Pacific, said looks for the new collection will include yarn dyes, ticking stripes, vintage florals and shirting plaids. Brushed twill and enzyme-washed denim, specifically, will be taken from the apparel collection and used for top-of-bed.
Three types of classifications for the bedding are planned — gender-friendly, denim and feminine — all of which will include a full range of colors, excellent hand, authentic sewing details from the apparel line and Dockers logo detailing, according to American Pacific.
"There seemed to be a void of a national brand presence," Griffin said. "Dockers has a reputation for quality, trust and innovation, so this is a good pairing between the two companies." She added that American Pacific had seen a void in casual living looks and considered Dockers, through its national reputation for casual clothing, the perfect choice to fill the void.
The collection will launch at retail in spring 2003.
American Pacific also manufactures, designs and markets the Nautica brand of bedding, bath accessories and towels.
