Patricia Spratt adds laminated place mats

By Cecile B. Corral -- Home Textiles Today, 4/15/2002

AT THE NEW YORK MARKET — Fine table linen manufacturer Patricia Spratt For the Home is adding laminated place mats to its offerings this April market.

The seven-year-old company, which domestically produces all of its goods at its Old Lyme, CT, headquarters, said it is answering the call of "so many customers who always ask us, 'Do you laminate?'" Kristin Woodmansee, vp, sales and marketing, told HTT. "We're very well known for our big print business, and everyone kept asking for the laminated goods, too, to coordinate."

The company first introduced the line in January with 16 new patterns. "We believed in it, and we've been proven to be right," Woodmansee said.

For the official launch this market, the company has added 12 patterns for a total of 28 looks. Three-fourths of the line is composed of brand new looks. The remainder is made up of the company's most popular existing patterns, including Pastoral Toile in black and natural and Taupe Topiary.

The collection comes in four shapes, including petal and scroll, which are exclusive to Patricia Spratt.

The mats are made to coordinate directly with the company's fabric table clothes and napkins.

The new line will target the company's existing customers — specialty, higher-end department stores, catalogs and gift and gourmet shops. And they are set to retail at the same price points as the company's fabric place mats — $8.50 to $9.50 each.
