Burlington teams with artist Zipkin

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/15/2002

AT THE NEW YORK MARKET — Burlington House's bath division and artist Sue Zipkin have teamed up to produce a line of bath accessories, shower curtains, mats and towels.

The Sweet Flowers by Sue Zipkin line was unveiled at Burlington's showroom at 295 5th Ave. Lotion dispensers, tumblers, waste baskets, tissue holders, shower curtains, towels and bath mats made up the introduction of the Secaucus, NJ-based artist who already already has a tabletop license with Elrene under her belt. Sweet Flowers, in golds, greens, reds, blues and purples, and Zippy Fish, in aquas, yellows, reds, greens and blues, both debuted.

"What's so special about Sue is her watercolors are so intricate and detailed," said Kathy Fowlkes, bath business manager. "All of her work translates very well onto the new offerings."

The accessories for the Sweet Flowers design are made from hand-painted ceramics and feature a floral and geometric pattern. For Zippy Fish, the ceramics are made from resin with a very whimsical fish design. Retail price points for both range from $13.99 to $49.99. The coordinating polyester shower curtains for both collections are offered at $29.99.

The towels are offered in bath, hand and fingertip sizes. Retail price points start at $19.99 for the bath, $12.99 for the hand, and $9.99 for the fingertip. The Sweet Flowers towel features a heat-transfer print, while Zippy Fish will be adorned with three different motifs. The bath mat for Sweet Flowers, at a $24.99 retail price point, is a heat-transfer nylon, while the Zippy Fish shaped bath mat, also at $24.99, is a printed nylon.
