Greensboro, N.C. -- Designer Mike Farrell, known for his out-of-the-box sensibility, will be the guest speaker at the Color Marketing Group's "ChromaZone" workshop later this month.
Scheduled for April 26 at 113 Stage Coach Road here, the all-day event - from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. - is being hosted by the Sherwin-Williams Company. Lunch is included.
ChromaZones are fast paced, energetic workshops held across the U.S. where participants have the opportunity to discuss colors and stories and -- as the day progresses at each event - also narrow these into a final color forecast. These forecasts become available at the close of the workshop in a digital format with multiple notations so that participants can begin working with them immediately.
Farrell, whose licensed collections include a rug line with Surya Inc. and a new collection to be unveiled summer of 2013 with fabric house Valdese Weavers, will be discussing his inspiration and the method behind "connecting the dots in [his] head."
As he explained, he plans to "talk about my adventures, how to develop a sense of trust in your ability to make connections, and how to recognize the patterns in the cards dealt to your life in order to express yourself creatively as well as telling the kind of compelling story that breathes life into an idea or design. Together we're going to explore why both formulaic design and raw creative design coexist in the post Warhol, Facebook-hipsterbia world."
The information gathered during ChromaZone event here will be incorporated into the broader color work that takes place during CMG's North American International Summit in Palm Springs, California.
The workshop is open to current, former and non-CMG members, with an invitation also open to members of related professionals, organizations, education and media.
