Seattle, Wash. - Bed Bath & Beyond is the retailer most at risk for "showrooming" by Amazon shoppers.
According to the study Placed: From Aisle to Amazon, conducted by location analytics firm Placed, BBB has plenty of big-name company.
"Amazon was the clear winner in e-commerce 1.0, and unless brick-and-mortar retailers shift from reactive to proactive, Amazon will win e-commerce 2.0 on the backs of offline retailers," said David Shim, founder and ceo at Placed.
The Top 10 retailers prey to showrooming in the study were:
1. Bed, Bath & Beyond
2. PetSmart
3. Toys R Us
4. Best Buy
5. Sears
6. Barns & Noble
7. Kohl's
8. Target
9. Costco
10. JCPenney
The survey was based on 14,925 U.S. respondents combined with the direct measurement of nearly 1 billion U.S. location data points during January 2013.
Placed also looked at where consumers were most likely to engage the Amazon Price Check app while in a brick-and-mortar store. They included:
1. TJMaxx
2. Costco
3. Office Depot
4. AT&T Wireless
5. Toys R Us
6. Macy's
7. Best Buy
8. PetSmart
9. Radio Shack
