White Plains, N.Y. - Surtex, the trade show for surface design, will host 10 sessions as part of its Art & Design Profit Perspectives conference during the 2013 show, which takes place May 19-21 at the Javits Center in New York City.
"As a fast-track education for design professionals who want to get into licensing, and also as a timely update for industry professionals, the Surtex Conference Program offers insights and practical knowledge for all who seek success in the design marketplace," said Penny Sikalis, GLM Vice President and SURTEX show manager.
The program schedule:
- May 19: the basics of monetizing art and design, whether through licensing or selling designs outright. These sessions are intended for newcomers to the business, including artists, designers, manufacturers, retailers and product developers.
- May 20: a legal session about design protection and three industry-specific category spotlights imparting the specifics required to do business within the various product categories.
- May 21: two sessions focus on business trends aimed to enhance the bottom line - one from a retail perspective and the other from the designers' point of view.
