GLM promotes Falkenberg to senior vp

HTT Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/4/2013 9:01:09 AM

White Plains, N.Y. - GLM has announced the promotion of Christian Falkenberg to senior vice president, effective Feb. 1. Falkenberg, a 21-year tradeshow industry veteran, most recently served as vice president and show director for GLM's New York International Gift Fair.
He reports to Charles McCurdy, ceo of GLM.
"This promotion is in recognition of Christian's exemplary leadership abilities, and his successful stewardship not only of NYIGF's day-to-day sales, marketing, management and operations, but also of the show's three-year strategic reorganization and recently introduced rebranding as NY NOW, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF)," McCurdy said. "We anticipate that Christian will continue to add to the fair, its exhibitors and attendees, and our company."
As senior vice president, Falkenberg will continue to have comprehensive oversight of NY NOW, including strategic development, brand positioning, sales, audience marketing, public relations and operations, as well as day-to-day management of the show's 18-person sales and marketing team.
Falkenberg joined GLM in 1992. During his tenure, he has held sales and management positions with the International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show, Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show, AH&MA Lodging Expo and the Air & Waste Management Association Conference and Expo. He was named GLM vice president in 2003. He became NYIGF show manager in 2008 and show director in 2012. Falkenberg holds a B.A. in psychology from Hamilton College and is a member of the International Association of Exhibitions & Events.
