Heimtextil boosts exhibitor count

Home Textiles Today Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 1/9/2013 1:15:08 PM

Frankfurt, Germany - Heimtextil, the largest home textiles trade fair in the world, opened today with a slightly higher number of exhibitors than last year.

This year's show features 2,658 exhibitors from 62 countries. The 2013 fair drew 2,601 exhibitors from 61 countries.

The number of exhibitors from the top three countries that export home textiles into the U.S. actually declined this year.

Powerhouse China, which has been shifting its manufacturing focus to the domestic market, still has the largest exhibitor presence by country, with 459 companies at the show. That's down from 473 last year.

Exhibitor presence from India dipped to 363 from 382 last year. Pakistan is represented by 214 companies -- six fewer than in 2012.
Turkey and Italy have the biggest increases in vendor participation, each with 12 more than last year. There are 184 companies from Turkey and 113 from Italy here this week.

The number of exhibitors grew by 11 over last year for Netherlands and the Republic of Korea, with 65 and 30 total companies here, respectively.

The number of U.S. exhibitors grew by four to 42.
Countries that are represented this week that were entirely absent last year include Argentina, Cambodia, Iran, Lebanon and Serbia - each with one exhibitor.
