Kurt Hamburger dies at 84; memorial planned for Jan. 18

New York - The self-described "Dean of the Industry" - Kurt Hamburger, whose career in home textiles spanned half a century - passed away on Sunday from congestive heart failure.

He was 84.

In his honor, the company he founded in 1967 - Lintex Linens -- along with the more recent sister companies, Cobra Espalma and Lintex Bedding, are hosting a special memorial at 11 a.m. Jan. 18 here at the Metropolitan Synagogue, 40 East. 35th Street, between Madison and Park Avenue.

Rae Ellen Blum, vp of marketing, said all of his industry friends are welcome and urged to share their own stories and anecdotes about their experiences and memories with Hamburger over the years at the memorial.

Hamburger's daughter, Cari Hamburger Kramer, who serves as a principal of Lintex Bedding, added: "This is a true memorial. We really want to remember my dad from everyone's experiences."
