JCP to ring in holidays with single sale day on Black Friday, other bonuses through Christmas Eve

Plano, Texas - JCPenney, under its new structure, said today that it plans to hold its only sale of the year on Black Friday.

For one day only, customers will find additional savings on hundreds of items that will be reduced in price in stores and online at JCP.com.

In addition, customers shopping at stores from Black Friday through Christmas Eve will receive holiday buttons that can be redeemed for a chance to win one of 20 million gifts.

"Black Friday is America's greatest shopping tradition and we're celebrating the occasion with our only sale of the year," said Ron Johnson, ceo. "All day long, customers will find some of our lowest prices ever and the chance to win amazing gifts, including once in a lifetime trips to great American destinations. It's our way of kicking off the holiday season and saying, 'Merry Christmas, America!'"

More than 1,100 JCP stores will open their doors at 6 a.m. on Black Friday to offer low prices on gifts for the entire family -- with no coupons or rebates required, the retailer noted.

For added convenience, team members throughout the store will be equipped with mobile checkout devices, giving customers a fast and easy way to complete their credit card purchases.

Customers who prefer to get an early start and shop online can take advantage of Black Friday prices on jcp.com on Thanksgiving Day. The website will also host a Cyber Monday sale beginning on Nov. 25 with free shipping and specials unique to jcp.com.

Throughout the holiday season, JCP team members will hand out more than 80 million buttons to customers at stores -- no purchase required. A unique code on the back can be entered online at JCP.com/Christmas for a one in four chance of winning a gift.

On Black Friday alone, JCP will be giving away as prizes 100 vacations to several major cities and sights, including Washington D.C., New York City and Yellowstone National Park as well as Los Angeles to see a taping of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." One additional trip will be awarded each day through Christmas Eve. Customers can also win gift cards ranging from $5 to $500; holiday certificates good for $5 or $10 off a jcp purchase; and merchandise including watches, diamond earrings, kitchen electrics, vacuums, critter hats and more.

And finally, via its charitable giving program JCP Cares, JCP will be hosting a special program in support of The Salvation Army from Nov. 23 to Dec. 31. During these dates, shoppers can round up their store purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to the organization's Red Kettle Campaign.
