New York - Material ConneXion has established two new homes in Sweden with the recent inauguration of a new satellite office in Tibro and the upcoming opening of a new permanent space in Skövde.
Material ConneXion, which is said to be the world's largest library of innovative, sustainable and advanced materials, is owned by Sandow Media, which is also the parent of Home Textiles Today.
The company aligned the officially opening of its Tibro satellite location with the Inredia:interior 12 Conference, held on Oct. 31.
Set for January 2013, the Skövde office is poised to offer Nordic European companies "the same wide array of material innovation services as the other nine international offices," Material ConneXion explained, citing "materials research, material sourcing, new product development, and innovation consulting."
The initial satellite office showcases a selection of 150 materials and is located in Tibro's Inredia building, which is a new center of interior design that will act as a hub for design professionals, manufacturers, architects and students. With an initial library of 500 materials that will continue to grow thanks to 30 to 40 new material additions per month, Material ConneXion Skövde is located in the Gothia Science Park, a technology and research center that focuses on creating an inspiring environment for entrepreneurs and companies. The development of this permanent library has been backed by IDC (Industrial Development Center), an organization focusing on production, marketing, competence and product development.
"The geographic location in Scandinavia and structure of the companies in this region, along with the environment in Gothia Science Park and the contacts and competence at IDC, were all extremely important factors in the opening of this Material ConneXion library," said Thomas Nilsson, ceo at IDC West Sweden.
Skövde has long been a source of building materials with its natural resources of limestone and granite. With major engineering plants located in the region, as well as strong public and private sector enterprises and institutes for higher education nearby, this location is ripe with opportunity. The new library and consultancy has been licensed to conduct business in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The global network offered by Material ConneXion Skövde offers creatives of all disciplines and industries enormous potential not only in finding material solutions for products and buildings, but also for companies that have created new materials and techniques who wish to have a greater international reach.
"Material Connexion is an opportunity for global exposure," said Anders Breitholtz, manager of Material ConneXion Skövde.
